Organic Sweet Table: Sweet Table Chicago

We at Sweet Table Chicago had so much fun putting together an altogether eco-friendly dessert table this weekend by using 100% organic desserts and recycling everyday items into the serving pieces and table decor!

We started with an old bed sheet that we re-purposed into the tablecloth. We wrapped clear egg cartons in recycled ribbon to hold individual organic cake balls, covered old gift boxes in scrap fabrics, and used a wicker picnic basket as the centerpiece that held a delicious organic coconut cake. The other organic desserts included giant blueberry and ginger scones, carrot tea cakes, and peanut butter and earl grey cupcakes.

Lauren designed the beautiful light in the background by weaving willow braches together and placing a light bulb inside. Mason jars and old soda bottles served as vases for mums from our cutting garden.

For the dessert labels, we cut out old paint chips in various shades of teal, to match the monochromatic theme of the table. And old light bulbs were dipped into left over paint colors to add some sparkle! We truly had a great time designing all the elements of this Sweet Table! And for those of you who are curious, organic desserts aren’t just better for you, they taste amazing!
